European Public Affairs Institute

Lobbying and Policy Advocacy

The European Public Affairs Institute is a two-week intensive study of the art and craft of lobbying and policy advocacy in the European Union.  Admission is open only to graduate students from universities in the United States and to professional public affairs officers/lobbyists.

The European Public Affairs Institute provides a unique, in-depth exploration of the strategies, tactics, methods, techniques, regulations, and ethics of public policy advocacy in the European Union.    The academic program begins with an introduction to the European Union and its governing institutions.  Targeted lectures and guest presentations by practioners then build upon this base to provide a thorough understanding of theory and practice of lobbying and policy advocacy in the European Union.  Guest speakers include academics, professional lobbyists, public officials, and journalists who bring both applied and theoretical approaches to their subjects.  From them, students gain both understanding of and insight into the lobbying profession as it is currently practiced at the European level.

The European Public Affairs Institute is modeled closely after its Washington counterpart, the Public Affairs and Advocacy Institute of American University’s Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies
